FAIRY DOORS

I began making fairy doors when my son was little, inspired by the idea that a tiny door could open the way to an entire imaginary world.

Every fairy door I create is made entirely by hand for one particular child. No two are ever the same. The colours, symbols and tiny details are chosen especially for them, and every miniature door handle, knocker, sign and decoration becomes part of their story. Some details hold meanings only the child and their family will know, turning each door into a very personal little piece of art.

They take weeks to create. I paint, build and embellish each one by hand, filling it with clues, secrets and small surprises to discover.

And when the door is finally ready, the story isn't quite finished. Each one comes with a special invitation ritual, allowing the child to invite the fairies into their home and begin imagining what might happen on the other side.

What started as something magical for my own little boy has since become one of the most joyful things I make: tiny works of art created for childhood, imagination and the wonderful possibility that there might just be something behind that little door.
