The Villas of Lake Como is an ongoing series of watercolour paintings exploring the extraordinary villas that line the shores of the lake I call home.

Each villa is painted in a single colour, chosen to reflect something of its character, history or surroundings. But the story extends beyond the building itself. Before beginning each piece, I research the villa’s history, architecture, gardens and the people who lived there, searching for the stories, symbols and sometimes legends that make each place unique.​ These discoveries find their way into the intricate hand-painted frames surrounding each villa: flowers from its gardens, family emblems, historical figures, objects, architectural details and small clues to stories from its past.

Together, the paintings become more than portraits of beautiful buildings. They are visual histories of Lake Como, each one inviting you to look closer and discover the stories hidden within its frame.
