A TRIBUTE TO
In 2023, I was commissioned to create a series of paintings inspired by Richard Avedon’s iconic fashion photography for Gianni Versace.
Avedon and Versace’s legendary collaboration produced some of the most memorable fashion imagery of the 1980s and 1990s: bold, theatrical and full of movement. Rather than simply reproducing the photographs, I wanted to reinterpret their energy through paint, creating my own tribute to the extraordinary visual world they created together.
The paintings later became part of another wonderful connection to Versace. Cristina Vittoria Egger, who worked closely with Gianni Versace for many years and has had a long career within the international fashion world, was invited to present a series of lectures on Versace in Italy and Eastern Europe.
During her presentation in Como, Cristina introduced my paintings as part of the story, presenting them as a contemporary artistic tribute to the work of Avedon and Versace.
