On April 18th Sonja Christoph and husband Alessandro left Como to travel by train to Venice for the day. This was just one of the many, and one of the shortest of journeys undertaken by Sonja in her moves from her native Florida USA to Como via Heidelberg, Munich and London. But perhaps, for all that, this was one of the more personally significant journeys taken until now – she was delivering her artwork entitled ‘Frames of Reference’ for display in the Venetian Biennale.

THE GLOBE BY KEVIN FEHLING, FINE DINING AUF DER EUROPA

The Globe by Kevin Fehling – the new gourmet restaurant on the EUROPA – symbolizes beginnings and returns, both for 3-star chef Kevin Fehling and for the luxury cruise ship itself. During the last shipyard stay at the beginning of October 2019, Hapag Lloyd Cruises adapted the luxurious ship to the changing demands of exclusive cruise guests.
... Black and white illustrations by the London artist Sonja Christoph, who captured Kevin Fehling's career in pictures, underline the authenticity of the restaurant. This unique ambience shows that astronomy, just like cooking and EUROPE, belong to Kevin Fehling as a person."

"It must be more than coincidental that so many creative people like Sonja Christoph are drawn to live in Como – the city nominated unanimously back in June by Italy’s UNESCO committee to form part of UNESCO’s ‘Network of Creative Cities’. She herself was unaware of Como’s creative designation, nor necessarily of its astounding recent achievements in art, architecture and both furniture and textile design. But as an art illustrator with a passion for folk tales and fables and as a wife and mother committed to fostering the creativity of all of her family members, it’s as if Como’s spirit and location called her here to join the ever-growing number of local foreign residents involved in the arts."

Take a look at the extensive series of custom illustrations created for the Hamburg culinary legend, Kevin Fehling. I began working with Kevin in 2016 providing him with unique fairytale-esque illustrations inspired by his life. I have consistently worked with him year after year.
